First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hitachi.
Account Manager
I interviewed with a few managers from the division. Some of them were in sales roles, and others were in more technical roles. They asked a mix of technical and organizational questions. They really dug into how I handle escalations, difficult customers, and juggling multiple priorities. The technical questions were about my understanding of the semiconductor industry overall and how the individual operations work.
- What's your go-to strategy when you're pulled into a meeting without notice?
Software Analyst Intern
I haven't had an interview yet, but I wanted to share how unprofessional they were. HR contacted me and asked me to answer some questions (which I already did on the job application) to make sure I met the basic requirements for the internship before moving me forward. I responded the same day, less than an hour after getting the email, answering all the questions (basically confirming I'm legally allowed to work and can start when needed). They never replied. I don't know if they forgot or what, lol. But about 3 weeks later, I got a generic rejection email for the job. It raised my hopes for nothing. Especially in this internship/co-op job market, leading candidates on like that when we're already struggling to find internships. They never gave me a reason why they ghosted me either! Very unprofessional of you guys and the HR team. Do better!
- Are you legally able to accept the work?
- Can you start when they need you to?
Sustainability Graduate
Really shocking and unprofessional experience. I attended an in-person assessment day in Woking, where I had interviews with three people, then did a group exercise and presentation with other candidates. I didn't hear back for two weeks until director Paul called me, and he accidentally told me I wasn't successful because he thought Dianne Cooper from recruitment had already told me. She hadn't. It was so unprofessional and a terrible experience for a recent grad starting their career search. Hitachi and their recruitment team need to do better. Informing four candidates of their assessment day results shouldn't be that hard.
- Can you tell me about a recent project of ours and share your thoughts on the work we're doing?
Software Developer
Applied online and heard back from HR pretty fast, which was cool. The technical interview was mostly about my past work, the stuff I've done, what I like, and how I do things. It felt pretty legit at first, but man, it's been over a month and still nothing. Feels like I'm not gonna hear back. It's kinda unprofessional and shows they don't really care about people or their time. Makes you wonder how much they actually value us.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
- What are your preferences?
- What best practices do you follow?
