First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hines.
Workplace Coordinator
I applied and two weeks later, the recruiter reached out. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager, supervisor, and client. The manager was great and got me the position. It was a pretty good and not too hard interview, except the client was a bit more particular.
- Can you define hospitality in your own words?
Building Engineer
It's a call or video call that lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. They'll focus on your career path, your sales accomplishments, what salary you're looking for, and when you can start. They might ask you situation-based questions, like 'Tell me about a time you exceeded your sales goals' or 'How do you handle a difficult client?'. They'll also check if you're a good cultural fit by looking at your quickness, ambition, and resilience.
- What is your age?
- What is your commitment level?
- What experience do you have?
IT Support Analyst Lead
So I had a recruiter call first, then three panel interviews. One was with management, another with team members for tech skills, and the last with executives. The first two panels were great, really organized and made me feel good about the role. But then the executive panel happened and things went south. We had agreed on a hybrid role, but they suddenly said it was fully in-office. Big confusion there. Then I got accidentally included on some feedback from them, comparing me to someone retiring, which felt weird and confirmed my doubts. Communication also just stopped. After weekly updates, I heard nothing for over a month, and never got a formal response. The silence was loud. So, while the early parts were good, the end part with the tone shift and unprofessionalism really soured it for me. Hope they get better at treating candidates consistently.
- Could you detail your professional experience?
VP Human Resources
A 3rd party recruiter reached out and I had conversations with two HR folks before meeting the rest of the team at their office. A lot of the discussion revolved around their church connections, and the CEO voiced some strong opinions about my current employer, saying his team had a great culture and he doubted anyone from my company or industry (entertainment) could contribute positively. While others asked technical questions, he didn't, which felt like a missed opportunity for him to have communicated that earlier to the recruiter.
- Can you share an instance where you needed to adjust your communication approach?
- Describe a situation where you had to adapt your communication style.
- Tell me about a time your communication style needed to be flexible.
