I'm sharing feedback on an HR role interview I had a few years back. The initial interview was with Rhia Girmendonk Dee. It felt pretty cold. Instead of starting with my background, she asked me to ask questions first. Normally, I like asking questions, but usually after discussing my experience. Since the format was unexpected, I ended up asking most of the questions and weaving my experience into the answers. This made the conversation feel a bit awkward and not very natural. Overall, it was very procedural with little connection, making it less warm than I'd hoped.

So, for the interview process, there are three main rounds of interviews plus an online assessment. First, you'll have a phone call with someone from talent acquisition. After that, there's an interview with the team manager, and then a final interview with the director. The interviews will cover things like why you're interested in this role and how you'd fit with the team, plus any past analytics projects you've worked on.

I applied through the ACCA Employer website for the Penang branch. The whole interview process happened on January 8, 2026, and there were three parts to it: first, filling out an application, second, finishing an assessment, and third, an interview with the Director. It was just me and one other person. The interview felt pretty relaxed and conversational. They asked about my background, why I left my last job, and about a six-month gap in my career. I also got to ask some questions. As of January 19, 2026, I haven't heard back yet.
