Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grant Thornton.
Staff Accountant
The interview process was really friendly and they were upfront about what they're searching for in a candidate. I went through a few interview stages before meeting the manager I'd be working with.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your accounting expertise?
Forensic Accountant
The hiring process was quite long, involving several interviews, an online test, and a take-home assignment. Ultimately, the offer was significantly lower than the initial salary range discussed, which felt like a waste of time for everyone involved.
- Could you summarize an industry report and conduct a financial analysis of a specific company?
Accounting Assistant
This interview process was a mess. Communication was bad from the start, taking weeks to even get a reply after applying. The first interview was a phone call where the interviewer was late and clearly hadn't read my resume, asking super basic questions. The second round was supposed to be a video panel, but only one person showed up with technical issues, and they asked irrelevant questions. After that, no one responded to my emails for over two weeks. They then scheduled the final interview at a time I said I wasn't available. The in-person final interview was also a disaster, with me waiting nearly an hour past my appointment time and the interviewer barely paying attention. They said I'd hear back in a week, but it took three weeks for a generic rejection email with no feedback. The whole thing showed how disorganized and disrespectful the company is.
- They asked some personal questions that weren't relevant to the job.
