First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Flight Centre Travel Group.
Paid Media Manager
I spoke with HR first, then the hiring manager, the Global Head of Growth & Demand Generation. HR sent a super detailed email before the hiring manager interview about who I'd meet and what topics would be covered, plus info on Flight Centre. BUT, the interview wasn't about Flight Centre, it was about one of their B2B brands instead! So I prepared for Flight Centre and then got hit with a totally different B2B context and brand. The hiring manager was also not friendly, didn't look at the camera, and hit me with rapid-fire math questions. It felt like an interrogation, and he was quite petulant. No real conversation, and I felt bad for the other marketing person who seemed scared. After all that, I never heard back for 3 months, so I got ghosted.
- Can you tell me the exact CPC of a campaign you ran 10 years ago and how it affected revenue targets?
Sales Travel Consultant
After applying, there are two interview stages. The first is a phone interview that lasts about 15-30 minutes, where they screen you and check your background. The second is a virtual group interview that lasts an hour to an hour and a half. In my interview, there were two other applicants, but they weren't applying for the same location. For this part, you need to do some research beforehand. They'll show videos and give you more info about the role.
- Can you describe what a typical day would look like for you in this position if you get hired?
- What strategies would you use to upsell a product that's challenging to sell?
Travel Agent
I had a phone interview where they asked me general questions about why I'd be a good fit and to tell them about myself. They also asked about a time something went wrong and how I fixed it, and my favorite destination with reasons why someone should visit. I didn't get an offer because they felt others had more passion for travel, so I guess you should emphasize that.
- Tell me about a time things went wrong and how you handled it.
- What's your favorite destination and why should someone go there?
Revenue Management
I applied online and the HR team got back to me quickly to set up an initial phone call. They rescheduled the call 3 times at the last minute, but we eventually spoke after about 3 weeks. It was a basic 'get to know you' chat, and she said she'd send info about the package and arrange next steps with the hiring manager. After that, she went silent, and I never got any info, the next call, or even a rejection. It was a waste of time, and I won't apply again.
- Can you share your background and experiences?
