Business Development Manager
I applied via their online portal, submitting my CV, travel history, and an example of a proud achievement. This was followed by a phone interview that was pretty straightforward, asking things like why I want to work for FC. After that, I was invited to an assessment day. As mentioned in other reviews, they pair you with another applicant and have you 'sell' each other. I think I did well because I volunteered to go first and highlighted my partner's ability to be likable and get the job done. This was immediately followed by a one-on-one interview, which was also very basic, covering my work history, team fit, and comfort with cold calling – nothing too demanding.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join FC?
- Could you walk me through your previous work experience?
- How do you think you would integrate into a team environment?
Business Development Manager
I applied for this job on a Friday and heard back on Monday for a phone screen from HR. I scheduled for Tuesday but had to reschedule last minute. The recruitment consultant was disorganized and unprofessional, taking NINE DAYS to get back to me. This made me question Flight Centre's choice of recruiting firm. When she finally responded, she said she was 'in transit' and to follow up next week. I had to follow up again the following week. By then, I wasn't interested in the job anymore and wanted to talk to her manager. I decided to use the interview for practice. The interview lasted about 25 minutes with 7-8 questions. She gave a scripted overview of the company, salary, location, and job details.
- What do you think is the biggest hurdle for this job?
- How do you get past a 'gatekeeper' to talk to the main person or decision-maker?
- What should your manager know about you to be an effective salesperson in this role?
Business Development Manager
I applied online for a position in London while I was living in Dubai, as I was planning to relocate. I filled out some details about my travel history, gave an example of a proud achievement, and sent in my CV. After that, I had a phone interview which was a general 'getting to know you' session where they asked why I wanted to work for Flight Center. Then, I was invited to an assessment day. Following the format of other reviews, they paired me up with another applicant and we had to 'sell' each other. This was followed directly by a one-on-one interview which was also quite basic, covering my work history, team fit, suitability for the London market, working culture, and sales accomplishments. My issue is that they promised to get back to me within 48 hours with feedback. After four days, I called for an update and was told the decision was still pending. I waited another week and called again, only to find out I was unsuccessful. They asked if I'd like to speak to the HR Manager who interviewed me, which I agreed to, but I never received a call back. I followed up again a few days later and still, no call back. It was very unprofessional of Flight Center not to inform me of the interview results via email or a call.
- Why do you want to work for Flight Center, and what unique skills or value will you contribute?
- Could you share an instance of an accomplishment you are particularly proud of?
- Why are you interested in working for FC, and what can you contribute?
