Had an initial meeting with the Director of Software Engineering, which I felt went well. Received prompt feedback. However, things then took a turn. After waiting 10 days to confirm a second interview date, I was told it would be another 12 days before the necessary interviewer was available. On top of that, a subsequent call revealed that the salary had been misrepresented and was actually £15,000 less than what was advertised.

So at Elanco, the interview process is pretty standard. You start with a phone screening where the recruiter just chats with you about your resume and the job. If that goes well, you move on to face-to-face interviews. Sometimes this involves meeting a bunch of people, and other times you might have a call with more interviewers. They're really nice and professional, and they'll ask you stuff about your background, your technical skills, and if you'd be a good fit.

Technical

I was told the first round would be a casual chat with the department head about my background and if I'd be a good fit for the company. But on the day, without any heads-up, it was a technical interview with three people. I wasn't ready for it. The interviewers were nice, but being surprised like that (I hope it wasn't intentional, that would be a bit sneaky) left a bad feeling. Make sure you get the interview format confirmed in writing beforehand.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process involved a 30-minute screening call, followed by a 1-hour interview with a supervisor, and then a 1-hour panel interview. The interviews were a mix of behavioral questions (using the STAR method) and questions based on company values, which required researching Elanco's website beforehand. During the panel interview, there were many questions, and it was challenging to keep answers diverse using the same experiences. There was some confusion mid-process as the job applied for and the job scheduled for the panel interview were different, and there was no response when clarity was sought, leading to uncertainty about the role being considered. I was offered time to process feedback after the interview, but this did not happen, and requests for feedback have gone unanswered.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Describe a situation where you had to reconcile diverse viewpoints to achieve an objective.
