Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elanco.
Technical Consultant
It was a total of four interviews. The first one was a 30-minute phone chat with HR. Then, a 30-minute phone call with the hiring manager. After that, a 45-minute video call with two other team leads. Finally, a 45-minute video interview with the hiring manager again and the director of the division.
- Could you please introduce yourself and explain your interest in this role?
Consultant
The interview process involved a 30-minute screening call, followed by a 1-hour interview with a supervisor, and then a 1-hour panel interview. The interviews were a mix of behavioral questions (using the STAR method) and questions based on company values, which required researching Elanco's website beforehand. During the panel interview, there were many questions, and it was challenging to keep answers diverse using the same experiences. There was some confusion mid-process as the job applied for and the job scheduled for the panel interview were different, and there was no response when clarity was sought, leading to uncertainty about the role being considered. I was offered time to process feedback after the interview, but this did not happen, and requests for feedback have gone unanswered.
- Describe a situation where you had to reconcile diverse viewpoints to achieve an objective.
Consultant
Had a few one on one interviews with senior technical and management people. It was open protocol with wide topics. Interviewers and candidates rotated. No specific host for each candidate. Some of the technical staff seemed unprepared and inexperienced for interviews. They gave results right away, but it turned out they weren't hiring anyone at that time.
- In a technical emergency outside your expertise, if the expert is abroad, would you handle it?
