So I had this recruiter call with EA, and honestly, it wasn't the best. This recruiter, who someone else also mentioned, was super aggressive. Even though we had 30 minutes, she kept rushing me, saying she had other calls. She'd ask something, I'd start to answer, and then, like, 10 seconds in, she'd cut me off. She mentioned some stuff about the role that wasn't in the job posting. Like, it said Remote, but she told me it's Hybrid if you're within X miles of an office and wanted an answer right then. I said I'd have to see, but she wasn't having it. I pointed out it was posted as Remote, but she didn't care. Also, she said 50% of the job was sales, which I feel should be clearer in the posting. She finished by saying they had thousands of applications and that the job's been up for at least 6 months, so they're probably looking for a unicorn. This is just about the recruiting part, not EA overall.

This Manager role's interview process was a huge waste of time for me and my references. After an initial interview with two managers, I was required to submit five professional references via Checkster before meeting any C-suite executives. I did get a second interview with a C-level exec, and made sure all five references, including a Partner and a Director, finished their long surveys. But then, I was told I wasn't moving on to the final interview, and they relisted the same Manager job on LinkedIn. When I questioned the recruiter about the timing of the reference checks, they said their process is deliberately thorough and that they do reference checks during interviews for this role to help them decide. Basically, they admitted they used my professional network as a pre-screening tool, not just for final confirmation.

Started with a phone call from the recruiter to chat about what I'm looking for in a firm and my interests. Got an email the next day to set up the second round. The second round had two senior associates from the team I'm interviewing with. They asked basic behavioral questions, so basically just practice using the STAR method. The last round was with a partner from the same group, and it was pretty chill. We mostly just talked about me, my internships, and what brought me here.

My experience was a perfect fit for the role and I had worked for two of their direct competitors. I interviewed with their CFO and COO. The COO asked me consultant level questions during the interview then offered me a 90 day contract position. My interview with the CFO indicated they did the same with him. They are not looking for a qualified person to fill the position permanently but rather want to get as much info out of you as they can in 90 days then send you on your way. The job posting is bait and switch. Don't waste your time unless you like being used.
