& Process

So I applied online after seeing they got recent funding and checked out their product. First, there was a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager screen. After that, a case study (they wanted me to spend 2 hours on it offline to prepare for a presentation during the onsite). Then the onsite loop included the case study presentation, team fit, a business case study, and culture fit. The HM round was about product sense and execution, with questions specific to deliverr. My case study was about building a product for farm-to-zoo animal delivery. During the presentation, the interviewer asked weird questions about business model, pricing, shipping optimization, and edge cases, which felt unrealistic for a 2-hour prep. They seemed to have biases and didn't like my ideas. The interviewers weren't trained, which is bad. Culture fit was standard behavioral questions. Team fit with an engineering leader was good; they were smart and asked relevant stuff. The business case round felt like they wanted a biz ops/management consultant/PM hybrid, asking for free solutions to deliverr's problems. The feedback was that my answers were too high-level and complicated, and it wasn't clear what they actually wanted. Finally, I had to meet a group PM who also asked about deliverr's problems, and then I was rejected. It was a huge waste of time, similar to what other reviews mentioned about giving away free solutions. It felt like they just copied Amazon.

Got an invite for a take home coding test on PostgreSQL the day after applying. Passed it and got feedback from Woven. Then the recruiter called me the next day to schedule a phone screen for a few days out. During the screen, I found out it was actually for a Data Scientist role. If I moved forward, the next steps were a whiteboard 1-on-1 and then a panel interview. I was told the next day I didn't get the job. The recruiter was super nice and totally upfront with all my questions, always keeping me in the loop. Even though I didn't get it, it was a really good experience overall.

There were four interviews in total. The first was with a recruiter, and the next three were with the managers you'd work with on the team. We chatted about my background in logistics brokerage and my tech skills. They wanted to know if I could handle a lot of data or if I'm open to learning Excel and SQL. They also asked why I'm interested in Deliverr and my long-term career goals with the company. If you like a startup vibe and can collaborate with different teams, this is a good place to apply!

First I got an online assessment on a third-party platform, which was a cool change because it was more of a hands-on task instead of just LeetCode practice. For a senior backend engineer, it was pretty doable. It covered some coding, database stuff, and troubleshooting. Then I had a chat with HR, followed by 5 interviews during the virtual on-site: one behavioral, one deep dive into a past project, one design interview, and two coding interviews. The coding questions were about medium LeetCode difficulty. The whole process felt similar to other big tech companies, though maybe not as intense as some. I heard back the day after the interviews about an offer. My recruiter was great, kept in touch, and answered everything. Even after the offer, they arranged calls to clear up my remaining questions. I had another offer but was really impressed with the whole Deliverr experience from beginning to end, including the final offer.
