So there are 4 steps in the interview process. First, a technical screening on Woven with 2 questions. Second, a phone screening with a recruiter. Third, a technical screening with the head of data science. Fourth, the final interview round with 4 different managers.

- The second technical screening will go over your ability to analyze a data problem and explain end-to-end on solving it, from selecting the required data to coding the solution.
- It is done on a virtual whiteboard and facilitated as a conversation with the interviewer.

Applied online and got a technical assessment invite a few days later. Completed the test the same day. Two days later, got an email to schedule a recruiter video call. Due to limited availability, the screening call was scheduled 8 days out. On the original date, the recruiter had to reschedule last minute, which postponed the call to the following week. Finally spoke with the recruiter after waiting half a month since the test. The call went well, but the recruiter mentioned the team would review my resume to decide on next steps. I was rejected the day after the screening call. While rejection due to background/experience mismatch is understandable, reviewing resumes only after the test and screening seems like a waste of time, as it could have been done initially.

It started with a take-home test that included a debugging task and a medium SQL problem. Then, I had a chat with the recruiter about the position and my background. The next step was a 1-hour SQL technical interview, which surprisingly wasn't very SQL-focused. It was more about my problem-solving approach, like a behavioral interview, checking if I could think through a problem and work backward to find a solution, aligning with a company value. I found this round challenging because it seemed to require specific domain knowledge, making it hard to fairly assess my thinking. I was quite confused about what I was answering and hadn't experienced anything like it before. However, I did manage to write a SQL query and explain it thoroughly. My advice would be for the company to refine how they evaluate candidates in this stage. The interviewer did say I did a good job considering the circumstances. If I had passed this, the next step would have been a final interview with the data science team.
