First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ConocoPhillips.
Data Engineer
This interview will ask you example-based questions, often called behavioral or competency-based questions. They want to know about specific situations from your past to guess how you'll do in the future. They're looking for skills like teamwork, problem-solving, or how you handle pressure. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to answer.
- Can you describe a significant challenge you encountered and how you managed to resolve it?
IT Intern
The ConocoPhillips IT intern interview typically involves an initial recruiter call, followed by a behavioral interview focusing on teamwork and problem-solving skills. Then, there's usually a technical or scenario-based interview to gauge IT fundamentals, troubleshooting abilities, and past project experience. Finally, you'll have a conversation with the team or manager.
- Tell me about a situation where you collaborated with a diverse group of people.
HR
The interview process was fair and straightforward, and it ran on time. It was interesting and in-depth. The interviews were behavior-based and to the point. They allowed time for questions. The interviewers were courteous, interested, and thoughtful, and there was a follow-up. It was average. Examples were given. They covered HR, accounting, finance, marketing, legal, law, IT, and engineering.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
Geodata & Seismic Analyst
The recruitment process was really bad. The recruiter never let me know I was rejected. My profile on their website kept saying 'Under Secondary Review' for two weeks. When I called them for an update, the recruiter said I was declined but they were waiting for the chosen candidate's paperwork to clear. It felt like I was the backup option. I found this disrespectful and careless because they didn't seem to care about the applicants waiting two weeks, and it stopped me from focusing on other job searches.
- Can you tell me about your achievements?
- Can you describe your previous experience?
