I got a week's notice for the interview. The construction projects manager interviewed me. It was mostly about my personality and why I applied. Since I was the first intern from my program, they asked a lot about that and my classes. Their website was super helpful for prep, with tips on expected questions and knowledge. They've taken that down now. Definitely memorize the COPs S.P.I.R.I.T values and the motto: "At ConocoPhillips, our work is never so urgent or important that we cannot take the time to do it safely and in an environmentally prudent manner." They will ask about the spirit values for sure.

I had a weird interview experience. They brought in some of my colleagues for interviews but then told them at the end they weren't planning to hire anyone. My own interview felt kind of rough, like they were trying to catch me off guard, maybe it was a technique? Recruiters told everyone interviewed they were their top pick, but apparently HR wouldn't approve it, which felt a bit misleading. Overall, it was a negative experience, though the recruiters were nice during their info session and at the career fair.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult coworker.
  • Can you share an instance where you took the initiative to resolve an issue rather than waiting or passing it on to someone else?
