The interview process included a personality test, which I didn't like because it felt like it wasn't about engineering skills, just about having the right answer and preparing for unexpected questions. I wish it was a skills test instead. They also showed me a map of field locations for internships, and my reaction to that determined if I moved forward.

The head recruiter for Conoco's Penn State team signed me up for an interview on the spot after reviewing my resume, which was surprising because it was the easiest process I encountered with such a large company. To top it off, they invited all of us interviewees to dinner to chat casually with the recruiting team. I'm still waiting to hear if I got the internship, but the head recruiter mentioned he submitted the paperwork to Corporate Recruiting and we should hear back soon, though I haven't received any updates and my emails haven't been answered. He did mention the team will be at a football game tailgate this weekend and invited us to join.

I applied online and also through my university's career center. I talked to recruiters at the job fair and also went to their info session. The interview involved discussing my resume with some STAR-style questions mixed in that helped explain my resume and experiences more. You should get ready for these because they are looking for some detail. One lady was talking to me while another was writing down my answers and marking up my resume.
