Behavioral

The interview focused heavily on behavioral questions and interpersonal skills, with minimal emphasis on technical accounting. It seemed the primary goal was to assess if candidates shared a similar mindset or could collaborate well with the hiring manager. The evaluation wasn't about right or wrong answers, but rather how the interviewer perceived and responded to the responses.

I had the initial HR chat, then a first hiring manager interview, and finally a second hiring manager interview plus a panel session at their office. I thought it all went well and got positive feedback, but then they ghosted me. I had to reach out to the HR person to find out what happened. Apparently, I didn't have enough experience, which is frustrating because they should have told me that upfront instead of making me waste hours and a PTO day.

Behavioral

We had a few rounds of interviews. First, a recruiter screening, then the hiring manager, and after that, I met with the team members I'd be working with. It was a pretty smooth process and everyone was really nice. They made me feel valued and like they were genuinely interested in hiring me, not just going through the motions.

I spoke with a Director named Brady. The chat was generally smooth, but I don't think I quite got across my strong interest in moving into marketing. We chatted about my background in data and LLMs, and I tried to link it to marketing analytics, but I felt like I could've done a better job showing how excited I am about the marketing side. I answered the questions asked, but after the call, I felt like I hadn't really explained why I'm so keen on this marketing transition. It was a nice chat, but no follow-up, which made me think I didn't stress my fit for the marketing job enough.
