My interview process at Bluecore was really smooth, and the team kept in touch clearly and on time. I liked how organized each step was. Everyone I talked to was friendly, easy to approach, and nice to chat with. It felt like they were open to answering my questions, which gave me a good feel for the company culture. Overall, it was a really good experience and made me more excited about the chance to work with such a thoughtful and welcoming team.

My interview process started on Jan. 5th and went through Feb. 6th, with a final call on Feb. 13th. I'd already had a phone screen before the holidays. I wasn't surprised by this because others have shared similar experiences with Bluecore's hiring process on Glassdoor. I'm calling it 'neutral' because I liked meeting the Bluecore folks and hearing about their teams and how this new role would work with them. Since it was a new role, they couldn't always answer questions definitively, but it sounded interesting. I was surprised they didn't ask for a writing sample or test anything about content management, given how they described the job. The downside was that at some point, they said they decided to hire two people for this role instead of one. In my final interview, they explained who they were choosing, and it was clear I was one of them. They said I'd get a call in a couple of days, and I thought it would be an offer. But after a week, the recruiter emailed to ask if they could call. On that call, he said I did great, but they could only hire one person, and someone else had already accepted the offer. Like others on Glassdoor, I felt strung along and like a backup candidate. I don't think anyone lied about wanting a two-person team, but I wish they'd said something like they didn't have approval yet, so I wouldn't have been so let down. It's also weird that I kept seeing Bluecore repost this role on LinkedIn, even bringing it up in my final interview. They said they didn't know why but that it's normal for their job postings. As of my review on 2/20, the job, which they said was filled on Feb. 9th, is still listed everywhere. Bluecore did ask for feedback the day after my final call, which I appreciate, and they got an extended version of this review with suggestions.

The interview felt pretty laid-back. I didn't vibe with the hiring manager, and it was awkward. I ended up doing most of the asking, and they kept prompting me with what to ask. It seemed like they might've already offered the job to someone else, but they were keeping me on the hook in case that person backed out. I also heard they badmouth their competitors, which is a bad look for a business. This place has a lot of warning signs and just seems really unprofessional.

I got referred and applied online in early March 2023. The whole thing took about 4 weeks, finishing up in early April. It kicked off with a quick phone chat where I just talked about myself, my job search, and why Bluecore. Then came a take-home assignment with a 3-hour time limit, featuring three problems focused on data manipulation and core data structures like strings, objects, and arrays. I put my solutions on GitHub gists. After that, I had a behavioral chat with someone from the engineering team about my career aspirations, past experiences, and what drives me. That was followed by a technical interview where I had to tackle a bunch of data manipulation problems, working with client data alongside two other engineers. Sadly, I didn't make it past the technical part :( . I think there were still two more rounds, possibly a meeting with a VP and a presentation. The recruiter was super helpful throughout, and the interviewers were genuinely nice, knowledgeable, and supportive. It was a good experience overall, and I actually enjoyed the algorithm challenges!
