Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard. First, I had a call with a technical recruiter who discussed what the company does and their tech stack. Then, they set up the next interview with an engineering manager. This was a one-hour phone call that was supposed to be behavioral. I thought it went well, but the recruiter later told me there wouldn't be any more interviews because the interviewer didn't feel my examples demonstrated my technical background effectively, which was apparently the dealbreaker since they didn't get a sense of my technical ability. The interviewer mentioned I didn't answer some questions, though I disagree and felt they didn't explicitly answer my questions about their objectives and challenges as a leader. Call me bitter, but if you want to gauge technical depth, have a technical interview and check the resume, especially with 3+ years of experience and long-term employment. Also, if you really expect to gauge technical depth by asking "tell me a project you worked on," you should probably rethink your strategy because it's not going to work.
- Tell me about a project you worked on.
- Share a project you worked on.
- What were your objectives and challenges as a leader?
Software Engineer
It was a really smooth and organized interview process. First, I spoke with the manager. It was a chill chat about my past work, what I've done, and the company. I got to ask about their culture and how they work too. Next up was a technical chat with an engineer, digging into my background, tech skills, and problems I've tackled. Then, there was a live coding round with a typical algorithm problem. We talked about different ways to solve it and their pros/cons, and I coded it up. The last part was a verbal system design interview for Tic Tac Toe, no whiteboard. I got rejected right after.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
- Can you describe a challenging project you've been a part of?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a chat with the Recruiter, then a chat with the Hiring Manager. After that, there was a Technical Chat with a Principal Engineer. The final part was an Interview Loop that lasted 3 hours and included 1 Coding, 1 System Design, and 1 Behavioral/Culture Fit interview. I liked everyone I talked to, they were all humble and knowledgeable. I ended up getting an offer elsewhere and accepted it, but Bluecore seems like a good place to further your career.
- A string parsing type of question, which was very practical and I loved it! We should move away from stupid Leetcode.
- A generic System Design question.
