AI Working Student
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a recruiter call where they asked about standard things like when I could start and my notice period. After that, there was a technical interview that dove into my past work and some theoretical AI/ML topics. Finally, they extended an offer.
- Can you tell me about your notice period and ideal join date?
- Let's discuss your experience with ML models.
- Explain your knowledge of system design concepts for AI solutions.
Payroll Specialist
The first interview was a 30-minute call with the recruiter, mainly about my resume, work history, and salary expectations. The second interview was with the hiring manager and a colleague. It was more of an open discussion with various questions. Besides checking my experience and motivation, I felt it was also about getting to know me better and assessing my fit for the team. *** A very disappointing experience, unprofessional process, and lack of appreciation. Pros: Friendly initial contact with the recruiter, clear structure of the first interview, nice manager and colleague. I really appreciated the conversation with them. Cons: I was promised an answer the week after the second (and final) interview in late September. Instead, I was ghosted. I reached out to the recruiter in mid-October for an update and got no response. I finally got a message at the end of November. I wasn't expecting a response at all by then, let alone a positive one. The message was automated, in a different language than the interviews, and from someone I'd never heard of. It felt very distant and unappreciative. Overall, the process felt very unprofessional. The way candidates are treated shows little respect for their time and effort. The entire process from application to rejection took over four and a half months, which felt excessively long.
- What do you know about this position?
- What are your expectations?
- What is important to you in a team?
Finance Controller
It started with basic behavioural and motivational questions, like why you want this role and why BASF. Then there were situational questions, but more normal ones like telling me about a time you demonstrated leadership. I also got some CV-based questions about my proficiency in Excel and PPT.
- Could you explain your interest in the BASF finance controlling internship?
- Can you share an instance where you demonstrated leadership?
- What is your level of expertise in Excel and PowerPoint?
Consultor
The process was long, disorganized, and lacked transparency, showing disrespect to the candidate. After two months and several meetings with management and even the German team, I heard nothing. I was told the process would be 'quick, no more than 4 weeks,' but instead, after a week, I contacted HR and was told they'd get back to me in two weeks. Three weeks later, with no response, I contacted HR again, but they completely ignored me. In the fifth week, I contacted management directly and finally received negative feedback. Isn't it that hard to maintain transparency? Have some empathy for the person on the other side building expectations...
