It was a pretty laid-back interview process. They asked some basic questions about the job and my previous experience, especially regarding working from home. After applying online, I had one in-person interview.

It was about an hour long, and I was asked several algorithm questions, including sorting and linked lists. I managed to answer them all, though some required a bit more time due to twists. The interviewer seemed busy and impatient, never turned on their camera, and didn't answer my additional questions. It didn't feel very professional and was a bit hostile. No offer was made.

  • Sorting algorithm questions were asked, with some twists.

I interviewed for a Financial Analyst job and it took a while, but I liked the people I talked to and got an offer. However, after getting the offer, what they told me wasn't true. The offer letter said Junior Analyst, not Analyst as they had said the whole time. They also wouldn't give me an undated contract. I was told benefits would start on day one with no waiting period, but there's actually a 90-day probation. I asked if I could skip signing that part since they were still saying benefits start day one, but I wasn't comfortable signing something false. They also mentioned 401k matching, which isn't offered. It was weird, and these red flags popped up right at the end, which was a bummer since I was excited about the offer after the long process.

So they interviewed me but like for the wrong role at first, they started off asking me about my degree and my experience at Asos. Then they asked me questions about back end PHP scripting and other languages that I didn't use and aren't used for front end. They got confused and offended when I said "I don't see the relevance". Then a woman came in and advised them that I was the front end guy. I asked them about their bad rep in the media. The two guys interviewing me got pissed off and defensive. The woman came in again and they gave me a laptop to live code a search engine.

Confirmed questions7 questions
  • Do you have experience with back end coding?
  • Tell me about your background and your experience at Asos.
  • What experience do you have with back end PHP?
