First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tory Burch.
Sales Associate
They asked about my sales experience, my availability, and what experience I had specifically with meeting sales targets. Prepare for behavioural questions like your strengths and weaknesses and be able to speak to your customer service skills and experience.
- Describe a time you dealt with a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it.
Assistant Manager
The process was pretty long, but mostly the same questions about customer service. There were three interviews, one each with the Store Manager, District Manager, and HR. All those had to be done before the offer letter was given. Usually, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get through.
- How do your personal goals align with the company's goals?
Intern
first had a brief interview with hiring manager, asking about my interests and knowledge of the brand. Then, had an interview with the 2 heads of the department I wanted to work in. This involved more in-depth questions about how I would do certain things in that role, and gave a better look at what I would be doing.
- What is the most striking thing about Tory Burch to you?
Design Director
After getting positive feedback from the first two rounds, I was given a very large project with minimal guidance. It ended up taking me over 100 hours and required several all-nighters. I was then asked to submit it digitally, which is a concerning practice as you should never hand over original work. I found it highly disrespectful to ask a seasoned designer to do so much unpaid work without the courtesy of an in-person presentation. I can't fathom how they could effectively assess a candidate based solely on a digital PDF created in isolation in under three weeks, which is unrealistic for the role. There was no opportunity for discussion, feedback, or even a simple thank you.
- Could you design a collection of 20 looks covering all product categories?
