First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tipalti.
Software Engineer
I had an initial recruiter call, who was really nice and helpful. After that, I went into the technical interview. That's where things went south. It was kinda awkward and they didn't seem prepared. There was a junior and a senior engineer on the panel, but they were super quiet and hard to talk to, making it a bit uncomfortable. During the coding part, it felt like they already knew the exact answer they wanted and weren't open to hearing other ways to solve it, which is weird because there's usually more than one way to code something. It was a bummer because it ruined what could have been a good experience, and I felt like the interview wasn't set up to fairly judge my skills. Hopefully, it's better for others.

Product Counsel
So the interview process was super fast, like they responded right away and got me scheduled quickly, and gave feedback fast. But like, the actual interview felt super robotic and like, not a real professional vibe. The recruiter was in London and on Teams but didn't turn her camera on. She was also using this AI thing to take notes without even telling me. The interviewer seemed totally checked out from the start. I think they maybe didn't want me because I'm in Amsterdam and just interviewed me to have someone from here. They didn't even say what the job was about or anything about the company. It was just a list of technical things they wanted. No questions about if I'd fit in or anything about if we'd work well together. Then after like 15 minutes, they tried to end the call and didn't let me ask any questions. I had to push to ask a couple things about the role, and they answered like I was bothering them. Seriously, worst HR interview I've had in 15 years. No way I'm joining Tipalti.

Customer Onboarding Manager
I went through three rounds for this role. The first two rounds were good experiences, well-organized and felt relevant to my background in implementing ERP and finance systems. I felt the interviewers were interested in my experience and I left feeling confident after both. For the final round, I had to prepare a presentation. The recruiter said my experience managing ERP/finance system implementations was exactly what they were looking for. However, the interview vibe changed. The interviewers questioned standard practices in implementation settings, like documenting product gaps, handling change requests, or upselling when scope increases. It became clear later that Tipalti uses a very strict, standard onboarding model and doesn't follow common ERP implementation practices. Since this wasn't shared before the presentation, I was evaluated against Tipalti-specific processes I couldn't have known. Instead of seeing my generalist presentation skills, it felt like they wanted someone with specific Tipalti experience. This made the environment negative, and I realized during the meeting I wouldn't be selected. It felt more like being pressured to know internal details rather than an evaluation of my abilities.

Customer Onboarding Manager
Tipalti's interview process was exceptionally smooth. My recruiter, Ailish, was very helpful and efficient, always providing quick updates and being friendly and easy to talk to. There were three interview stages, and the last one involved a presentation. All the interviewers were relaxed and friendly, and they asked really good, well-structured questions. The whole experience gave me a strong feeling that Tipalti has a positive and supportive work culture, which is what I'm looking for in my next job.
