So there were four interviews in total. First up was a HR screening with standard questions. Then I had an in-person meeting with two sales managers. They wanted to hear about my experience, my biggest wins, and any tough times I've been through. It was important to use the STAR method and have a few solid examples ready for each. After that, the third round was a live sales presentation. I was given a Tipalti deck and had to pitch it like I was talking to a potential customer, making sure I knew all the pricing details and tiers. The final stage was an interview with the director.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I applied for a Senior AE position at Tipalti and was considered for two roles due to my experience and seniority. The interview process involved seven rounds with recruiters, sales managers, directors, and VPs, which felt excessive given the time commitment. After several weeks of communication, seven interviews, and significant preparation, I received a standard rejection email. My partner went through eight rounds, including an in-office meeting and tour, followed by a 30-minute chat. After two weeks of no contact, they also sent a generic rejection and suggested applying for a different team. He then went through five more rounds for that team and received another generic rejection. This drawn-out process feels like a waste of time and creates a negative impression within the tech sales community.

Interviews went pretty smoothly. I had an initial chat with HR, then met with the hiring manager, followed by a conversation with another AE, and finally, I spoke with the VP of Sales. They asked me to put together a 30-60-90 day plan. I didn't have to do a mock sales presentation.
