The interview process was pretty standard. I started by explaining my background and what I knew about TIDE. Then, they asked me some questions directly related to the job. They seemed a bit worried about my commitment to a 6-month temp role, but I reassured them and even agreed to increase my notice period to show I was serious. I got an offer and accepted it. But then, less than 5 days before I was supposed to start, they called to cancel the job. It's really frustrating because they were so concerned about my commitment, yet they ended up doing this. They knew I was made redundant, expecting a baby in two months, and had a mortgage. Now I've wasted almost two weeks where I could have been job searching, but I held off to reassure TIDE. This whole situation is unacceptable and has caused a lot of stress for my family. I hope you look into how this happened.

The interview began with a brief 15-minute HR chat, and then I was set up for a 45-minute functional screening. This round was supposed to be with design leadership or a manager, but it ended up being with a Senior Product Designer. The interviewer said it would be a chill chat, not a case study or deep tech dive, and mentioned he liked my work. The questions were pretty basic and behavioral, focusing on how I work with others and my general process, without any deep dives into past projects, impact, or B2B/B2C specifics. It was a good conversation, but surprisingly, I got rejected two days later. HR said the feedback was that I was 'too junior for the senior role' and 'needs more B2C exposure.'

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Started with a 20-30 minute HR call, a quick intro to the company and role. Then, a video interview with recruiters. I began with a brief intro of my background and skills. A second recruiter joined to discuss the role's details, hours, and duties. They made some sarcastic remarks about my past experience which I found unprofessional. I was informed that shifts and breaks are strictly managed, and shared my past negative experience with such strict controls. The interview also covered handling calls from suicidal individuals, requiring professionalism and de-escalation. A mock call involved an angry customer, passed around multiple times. I shared a personal example of dealing with similar issues, but was told not to blame colleagues, and was given a generic 'correct' response. The interview concluded with my questions, asking about management expectations beyond just targets, but received no clear answers, only that the team is understaffed and overworked.

I went through the selection process for the UI/UX Designer position at Tide about 4 years ago. I made it to the last stage and got an offer, but I turned it down for personal reasons. The team at Tide was great and professional, making the experience educational. The steps were: CV and portfolio review for initial selection, an introductory phone chat to see if I aligned with the company's values, a take-home design task, a video call to review the design task, and then I got feedback and a job offer.
