First, I was contacted via email to gauge my interest and discuss salary expectations. Then, I had to complete a proctored assessment that involved PowerBI and SQL. After that, there was a virtual interview with the hiring manager, followed by a group interview with the hiring manager and some other people from the team. I kind of felt like I didn't nail the second interview, and when I followed up with the person who first reached out, they let me know I wasn't selected. But, the hiring manager did send me a direct email which was nice of them.

I first submitted my cover letter and resume on their website. A recruiter then got in touch to set up a quick 20-minute phone screening and gave me an idea of what the rest of the process would look like. Surprisingly, I heard back the very next day and was invited for an interview. The following week, I had a 30-minute meeting with the Director of Development. The day after that, I was asked back for the final round of interviews, which involved meeting with three staff members, including the Director. I got a call with an offer the very next day!

The recruiter contacted me to set up a call, but then I didn't hear from her for weeks. When we finally had the call, she was 15 minutes late and seemed annoyed that I had emailed to check if we were still on. She mentioned the next step was a questionnaire, which she said she'd send after our call. It took three weeks and many follow-up emails that went unanswered to finally get the document. I spent hours on this huge questionnaire, which had 10 interview questions and a creative consultation part. I sent it back before the deadline, but I never got confirmation it was received, and I doubt anyone even read it. Again, weeks passed with no updates, and my calls and emails were ignored. Eventually, I got a generic automated rejection email months later. I know TNC gets a lot of applications, but it takes minimal effort to send a quick update about the status. Ghosting is really unprofessional and disrespectful. It's disappointing that this is how The Nature Conservancy treats candidates. It makes me question if it's a good employer. I'm experiencing the same thing with another role there right now, so it seems like a pattern. This company appears to be taking advantage of people looking for meaningful work. I won't be applying again.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process involved a written questionnaire, followed by a 30-minute chat with either HR or the hiring manager. Next, there were two panel interviews. After putting in the effort to complete the written part and get ready for the panels, it was disappointing that the interviewers seemed unprepared. The first panel had people who didn't collaborate well and couldn't discuss program priorities or answer detailed questions. They were also distracted during the interview. The hiring manager didn't provide a hiring timeline, and the interviewers stuck to a script without asking follow-up questions. Despite being a finalist, my application was handed off to an unfamiliar HR person, and I received a rejection email after their promised reply date. While not a terrible process overall, it reflected poorly on how the organization values its employees and potential hires.
