I went through The Nature Conservancy's hiring process. It started with a questionnaire, then a screening call, and finally two full interviews. They told me after the last interview, they'd do a reference check and then make an offer. But after the final interview, they just stopped responding. I've tried contacting the HR person, but no reply for over two months. It's been hard to know what to think because of the silence. The beginning was good, but the lack of communication after the final interview was a letdown. Hope this helps make things better for other candidates.

Behavioral Technical Case

The whole interview thing took about 3 weeks from applying to getting the offer. It moved pretty quick but felt a bit structured. About a week after I applied, the hiring folks sent me an email asking me to fill out a questionnaire with 5 essay questions about why I'm interested and my experience for the role. The next day, I got invited for TWO interviews and had to give 3 references (they all got called before the interviews). Both interviews were on the same day and within 4 days, I got the job offer. The questions were definitely structured and didn't change (I guess to keep it fair for everyone). All the questions were different from the questionnaire. I prepped by thinking about why I want to work at the organization, how I team-work, and how my experience can help the organization, using the STAR method as much as I could.

I applied online and only got an automatic acknowledgement. I didn't hear back for a while, then got an email for a phone interview with my potential manager. This was one of a few calls to decide who moves forward to in-person interviews. I thought I'd get an on-site, but it would have meant moving to a non-profit with less pay, which they noted as a concern. After some weeks, I got a nice personal email thanking me for my interest and wishing me luck, mentioning salary as a factor.
