so for textron aviation the interview process for the customer engagement intern role went like this for me. i applied online and then heard back from a recruiter to schedule an interview. the first interview was with the recruiter where they asked about my background, my communication experience, and why i was interested in customer engagement and aviation. i talked about my campus roles, writing experience, and how i like working with people and audiences. after that, i moved on to an interview with the hiring manager. this one focused more on how i work on a team, handle events, communicate with customers, and deal with last minute changes. i explained how i stay organized and support larger projects without losing track of details. i also asked questions about the team, the internship timeline, and the kinds of customer engagement projects i would help with. then i wrapped up the process and waited to hear back.

So first there were these online one-way interviews where they asked general behavioral questions, then a phone interview with the hiring manager where we talked about specifics from my resume. Overall, these interviews were pretty easy, though the one-way interview thing was kinda annoying and I felt it was harder because you couldn't gauge the vibe.

I did a video interview, then a virtual video interview with HR. After that, there was an in-person meeting, and finally a virtual video interview with the team lead. Communication about next steps was pretty minimal throughout. They made it seem like I was a strong candidate and I even went out of my way to meet with a top executive last minute, but then they told me I wasn't moving forward. I had to ask for a call with HR and the program leader to understand why and to share my disappointment. They apologized and wished me luck.

The process was a disaster from the start. My emails went unanswered for days. When they finally picked a time for a Teams interview, multiple people failed to confirm, so I had to contact the HR rep who still didn't respond. The Teams interview was with only one person. Later, I was asked to visit HQ for an in-person interview. Again, no one provided timely info, and I had to contact a non-HR person via email at the last minute for details. The interview was hours long with one person. They shared info that others should have heard but weren't present for. A senior person briefly joined, asked basic questions, and left. Other team members joined later for a session where I had to repeat everything I said hours earlier. It felt like they were just going through the motions to hire someone pre-selected who might have had less experience and a lower salary expectation. Very unprofessional. After the interview, I heard nothing for weeks. I left multiple messages and sent emails which were read but not responded to. Finally, I got a response at 4:59 p.m. the evening before a three-day weekend, clearly to prevent me from calling anyone to ask what happened. 4:59 p.m.! What a cowardly way to do business! Run, don’t walk, away from this company.
