Textron Aviation Manufacturing Engineer Interview Questions

The interview process at Textron was pretty standard. They asked about my previous technical experience and mechanical aptitude, but most of the interview was behaviorally focused. They really wanted to know about projects I had worked on, like if I worked on my own car, had I been around farm equipment, how well do I understand aircraft, and have I ever built a model aircraft. The interviewers were really nice and personable. Overall, it felt pretty easy and productive for someone with the right background. I interviewed two days after meeting a recruiter at a career fair and got an offer four days after the interview. Just a heads-up, Textron hires interns super early – I got an offer before other engineers in my program.

It was a pretty standard interview process. First, there was a phone HR interview where they asked the usual questions like why Cessna, why hire me, and what my interests are. The second round was a phone interview with the managers and supervisors (there were 4 of them, but I didn't catch their titles). It was a long, intense grilling session, mostly focused on my experience. The third round was via Skype with three managers (again, I'm not sure of their exact roles or titles). This was a straightforward Q&A, with situational questions. These sound easy, but they're actually tricky because your proposed solution might not be what they're looking for. I felt the first two interviews didn't go too well, but the last one actually went great. The outcome was the opposite of what I expected, so if your interviews don't seem to go well, you might still have a chance. This was one of my dream companies, so it's a shame I missed out.

The interview was really friendly and let me talk a lot. They asked a few technical questions but mostly personal ones. The interview happened in an open space with everyone else interviewing. The only downside was the slow response time for an update, which took over a month.
