First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spirit Halloween.
Cashier
It was a basic, informal interview. They asked the usual questions, and the atmosphere was very casual. There was a clear disparity between in-store management and the online hiring staff, as communication between them seemed restricted. It was a decent enough experience overall, but they were slow to reply.
- What is your total retail experience?
Supply Chain Operations Manager
The recruiters were very communicative. The first interview was a screening call with the Talent team. After that, I interviewed with the VP of Supply Chain, and then the SVP of Supply Chain. I made it to the final round, but they ended up choosing another candidate. Overall, it was a positive experience.
- Can you describe your most significant achievement within supply chain operations?
Sales Associate
It was pretty simple, mostly just asking general questions and talking about the store. They gave me a tour and explained how things work. I got a good idea of what the job is like every day, and they also went over sales and donation strategies. Super straightforward, and it seems like a great gig for beginners or anyone who likes Halloween.
- Can you give an example of how you'd convince a customer to buy extra accessories for a costume, like for a vampire outfit?
Graphic Designer
It started with a phone interview, followed by two video interviews. The first video was a one-on-one, and the second was with the design teams. After all the interviews and a solid offer, they didn't give me an official start date. We went back and forth via email for months. Eventually, mid-pandemic and when I really needed a job, they mistakenly offered me a different role than the one I applied for and was chosen for. I took it just to get started. Then, after another month of no contact, my contact finally replied to my third attempt to reach them and said they were moving the work in-house. Total waste of time, with fake offers and false hope. Their freelance pay is great, but their communication is awful, and they're generally flaky and unreliable.
- What specific changes would you suggest for our existing design aesthetic and output?
- Please conduct a thorough review of our product packaging and overall marketing materials before our discussion.
- Be ready to present specific examples to support your points during the interview.
