It's pretty basic, nothing complicated. They're just trying to get a feel for you as a person. Are you reliable? Trustworthy? Enthusiastic? We like people who are individuals, so let your personality shine! The worst thing you could do is say the only reason you want the job is for the employee discount!

I applied online in mid-July and got a call a few days later from the District Manager for a quick phone interview. We then scheduled an in-person interview for the following week at a Dunkin Donuts. The manager bought me coffee and we talked for about 45 minutes. The interview felt formal because he followed a corporate outline with pre-written questions, but our conversation was pretty casual. I initially applied for a Sales Associate role, but he thought I'd be a better fit for management and interviewed me for the Assistant Manager position instead. He offered me the job right after the interview. After I accepted, he initiated a background check and contacted my references. I got the official hiring confirmation a few days later.

I met with the regional manager in their office for a typical one-on-one interview. We discussed my retail and cash handling experience. They also explained the setup requirements for the store, noting it's a temporary location. The crew needs to set up and tear down the store after the holiday season. We'd also be responsible for working late the week of Halloween, including on the holiday itself.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • How many years of retail leadership experience do you have, such as in retail management or a supervisory role like head cashier?
  • Tell me about your experience in a supervisory position, like a head cashier.
  • Describe your experience with cash handling.
