Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spirit Halloween.
Cashier
It was a basic, informal interview. They asked the usual questions, and the atmosphere was very casual. There was a clear disparity between in-store management and the online hiring staff, as communication between them seemed restricted. It was a decent enough experience overall, but they were slow to reply.
- What is your total retail experience?
Cashier
The interview was pretty straightforward and easy. They mainly wanted to know why I was interested in the position and my availability to start. This seems pretty typical for stores like Spirit, as they're looking for staff and are accustomed to hiring individuals new to retail.
- Can you share an instance where you assisted a customer?
Cashier
I got to the interview at the time we agreed on, which I confirmed over the phone, but the manager told me I was half an hour early and made me wait outside until the actual start time. I mentioned that this was the agreed time, and he gave me a dirty look and walked off. I waited anyway and ended up talking to a different person. They didn't really ask me anything except why I wanted the job. This person seemed really uninterested and wasn't paying attention to me or what I was saying. They thanked me for the interview, said they'd let me know, and I never heard back.
- What makes you want to work here?
