First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SKF.
Customer Engagement Representative
Had a phone screen with the recruiter, then a long zoom interview with the hiring manager and an associate. The next step was supposed to be an in-person interview with the team. Sadly, after an hour-long interview, there was no follow-up, even though they said they'd inform everyone. I followed up with the recruiter and didn't hear back, despite them being responsive initially.
- Can you tell me about the systems you've used in past roles?
Intern
I applied for the SKF recruitment via campus placements. After an initial CGPA and mech engineering coursework shortlisting, I got invited for the first round. It kicked off with a 60-minute online test. This test had tech questions from SOM, Thermal, Manufacturing, and bearing basics, plus aptitude and logical reasoning. The tech questions were mostly concept-based MCQs, and aptitude covered speed-distance-time, data interpretation, and numerical reasoning. Then, about a dozen of us got shortlisted for interviews. The next step was a technical interview. The panel grilled me on bearings, materials, machining, and basic hand calculations from my projects. They also asked about my internship, the tough spots, and how I handled them. After that, the HR interview was more of a chat, asking why I wanted to join SKF, my teamwork style, my strengths, what I need to work on, and my future career plans. The whole thing felt pretty smooth and professional; the interviewers were nice but really zeroed in on the fundamentals.
- Tell me about your B.Tech project and your M.Tech project.
Electrical Engineer Intern
So they asked me about my projects first. Then we got into technical questions, covering hardware stuff like op-amps and rectifiers, and also software, specifically C. The last thing was a troubleshooting question, where there wasn't really a right or wrong answer, they just wanted to see my thought process for tackling a problem.
- Can you explain the function of each part in a bridge rectifier, including things like output capacitors and Zener diodes?
Software Developer
The interview was straightforward. They asked about my resume and fundamental object-oriented programming concepts. They also inquired about my career aspirations and my readiness to transition from university to a professional role.
- Regarding the SQL mentioned on your resume, can you elaborate?
- Could you explain some basic oops concepts?
- What are your career goals?
