Their interview process is out of order, and I was rejected with a boilerplate automated email, despite being told throughout the process that I was an excellent candidate and would be moving forward. This process was not difficult, however it was out of order and having candidates be required to pay for tooling without offering any compensation is a bad look. 1 - automated cognitive/personality testing through a third party 2 - Screener with recruiter 3 - Mandatory college transcripts? Weird. 4 - Extensive take-home test, where I was expected to pay for all my own tooling. 5 - Interview with hiring manager 6 - More interviews 7 - A proctored re-take of the test in Step 1

Technical Coding System Design Behavioral

I applied online and the whole thing took about 7 weeks. It started off pretty standard: a skills test, then live coding, followed by technical rounds, and finally a culture/behavioral chat. I talked to about 7 people in total, some from my potential team, others from different departments. Everyone I met was really nice, professional, and easy to talk to. A few even said it would be awesome to work together, so I was feeling pretty good about it. Then, things got weird. After almost two weeks of radio silence, one person from the team basically invented their own interview on the spot. They wanted another live coding session, even though I'd already done one. They also threw in system design and technical questions that seemed super specific to their own experience, not really objective. Some questions felt like they were just trying to get me to agree with their way of doing things. It all felt really ego-driven and out of sync with the structured process before. Talking to this person was tough too; they kept insisting on technically wrong points, making it frustrating. This made me question teamwork, communication, and technical skills on the team. It was a bummer because all the earlier rounds were great, and I felt positive about the company. But that last step was a major red flag and ruined the whole experience. It felt chaotic, uncoordinated, and disrespectful of my time. Just wanted to share so others know what to expect.

Coding Technical Behavioral

So, the first part was like an IQ test, then a Codility test with three parts: one Python, one SQL, and one React. The Python one was about water tanks per house. The React one involved making a like/dislike button work, with some starter code. After that, I had an HR chat with some basic questions. To even move on, they wanted proof of a high GPA. Then came the big tech interview with the Director, VP, and the manager. We discussed my past work, and I had to do this task where I planned out a whole store, from the ground up – hosting, serving, front and back-end, how it would all run. I felt it went pretty well, but no offer yet.

  • Could you implement a like/dislike button with its given functionalities, considering most of the code is already provided?

I had 3 different test assignments and they all took a lot of time. Then I had 2 interviews. They asked my salary expectation in the last interview, and I told them I already shared it when I applied. They said they wanted to double check, and when I shared it again, they said it was way more than they could pay. It's ridiculous and terrible because I shared my salary expectations at the beginning, and they didn't check their system and still included me in the process. If my salary expectation wasn't suitable, why did they invite me to 3 exams and 2 interviews? My time was wasted.
