Software Engineer
Started with an online Wonderlic test, then a three-part Codility challenge. The challenge had tasks like basic Express endpoints, a React debouncer, and an SQL query of mid-level difficulty. An AI assistant helped with questions, making it doable. Got immediate results and a perfect score. The interviewer mostly read questions, with an AI watching responses, which felt impersonal. Then got a rejection email with no feedback.
- Can you describe a challenging project you've worked on?
Software Engineer
First, there was a Wonderlic test, then some coding challenges on Codility with React, Go, and SQL. After that, I interviewed with the manager and then the ops team. The questions were pretty straightforward given it's an entry-level SWE role, including a few quick system design questions covering monoliths or distributed systems.
- Write a SQL query to match passengers with their next bus.
- Complete a React debounce exercise.
- Implement a simple router in Go.
Software Engineer
So, the first part was like an IQ test, then a Codility test with three parts: one Python, one SQL, and one React. The Python one was about water tanks per house. The React one involved making a like/dislike button work, with some starter code. After that, I had an HR chat with some basic questions. To even move on, they wanted proof of a high GPA. Then came the big tech interview with the Director, VP, and the manager. We discussed my past work, and I had to do this task where I planned out a whole store, from the ground up – hosting, serving, front and back-end, how it would all run. I felt it went pretty well, but no offer yet.
- How would you solve the number of water tanks per house problem?
- Could you implement a like/dislike button with its given functionalities, considering most of the code is already provided?
- Tell me about your previous experience.
