First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Revature.
Data Engineer
The interview process felt really organized and went smoothly. It started with a basic technical check, looking at my fundamental knowledge, how I think logically, and if I can communicate well. The person interviewing me was professional and asked about my basics, how I solve problems, and if I'm eager to learn. The whole thing was open and fair, and I got a good idea of what they were looking for before moving forward with Revature.
- Can you describe your foundational knowledge and your learning style, particularly regarding basic programming, logical reasoning, and adapting to new tech?
- How do you feel about basic programming concepts and your problem-solving skills?
Associate
The pre-selection interviews were pretty good. They asked behavioral questions and checked my background and if I was willing to join after the training. They also checked communication and technical skills, so be ready for the technical part. For pre-selection, they might only ask 1-2 technical questions since they mainly focus on soft skills.
- What's your approach to managing projects with tight deadlines?
Trainee
It's not really an interview, but more of a mandatory exam to assess your knowledge before you start. They give you a study guide, which is nice, but the second half of the exam has general knowledge questions, so it's not too bad. The exam focuses on Java, with some SQL, Javascript, and HTML/CSS. If you pass, you're selected and then it's out of your hands whether you become a Data engineer or a software developer, as it depends on the cohort you're placed in. The training is 9-10 weeks of modules and learning, including coding labs, assignments, quizzes, and a major final project. There's a chance you might be sent out early to clients needing engineers, even before finishing modules or starting training, but this is completely based on your location.
- Tell me about what interests you and the reasons behind it.
Software Engineer Trainee
So, the Revature interview process starts with an initial HR call, which isn't always required, just to chat about when you're free and if you're okay with moving. Then there's an aptitude and technical test, covering things like math, reasoning, basic programming, and a couple of coding problems. After that, you might have a technical interview focusing on programming basics (like loops, OOP), SQL, and talking about your past projects. Alternatively, there could be an HR interview where they ask about your strengths, weaknesses, career aspirations, and discuss the bond. Finally, there's a background check and the offer stage.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What do you consider your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
- Where do you see yourself professionally in the future?
