First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Progressive Leasing.
Data Scientist
The first stage involved questions about statistics, analytics, and modeling. I'd asked for info beforehand about what to expect. The interviewer was friendly, allowed time for questions, and gave me space to think through answers. I felt it went well, but then got an email saying they were 'thanking me for going through their stages' even though I only completed one.
- When deciding whether to grant a loan, what are the key factors to assess?
Data Analyst
Progressive Leasing's interview process involves a mix of behavioral and technical questions to check your problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, and technical abilities. You'll face questions about how you deal with work challenges, changing situations, and team collaboration. Examples include: 'Tell me about a difficult problem you solved at work.' or 'How do you meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality?' There will also be technical questions specific to your expertise in areas like data analysis or using tools like SQL or Python, such as 'Describe a project where your data analysis led to business decisions.' or 'Tell me about your experience with SQL or Python.' They also ask questions to see if you fit with Progressive Leasing's values like customer focus, innovation, and teamwork, like 'Why are you interested in Progressive Leasing?' or 'How do you bring innovation to your tasks?' Lastly, they'll present hypothetical scenarios to gauge your response, such as 'What's your plan if a system you oversee suddenly breaks?' or 'How would you handle competing deadlines?'
- What's your approach to prioritizing tasks when faced with conflicting deadlines?
Compliance Specialist
So, I went through 3 interviews for this Compliance role, with a lot of back and forth emails. All 3 interviews went pretty well. One thing that threw me off was after the second interview, I thought the third one would just be a formality, like a casual chat to meet the team, not really an interview. I ended up not really treating it like an interview, which I probably should have. The interviews themselves were a bit long and all done remotely via teleconference. The people were really nice and I enjoyed chatting with them. The questions were directly related to the job duties and asked me to explain how my past experience fit those duties. About two weeks after the third interview, I got an email saying the job was filled because they hired someone internally. It was frustrating that they didn't even consider internal folks before talking to external candidates. I also learned that this role involves a ton of meetings, like 20+ hours a week of calls, standups, etc., on top of everything else.
- Can you tell me about yourself and if you have experience with X, Y, and Z, providing specific details?
Data Governance Manager
After I applied, within a week, a recruiter from Progressive emailed me about my application and to set up a phone interview using Calendarly. She confirmed my chosen timeslot and we looked forward to connecting. The recruiter phone screen was enjoyable; the interviewer was respectful, kind, and asked relevant business and technical questions. She kept me updated on my progress throughout the stages and was easy to communicate with, always leaving the door open for questions. She also kept me informed about timing, so I never felt left in the dark. I particularly appreciated interviewing first with the hiring manager and then with his leadership. This gave me a good sense of the leadership team at Progressive, making me want the job even more. Discussing and solving a business case with the leadership provided a clear picture of daily work interactions and assured me that any offer would be based on my skills and ability to be a good team fit.
- Could you describe your previous role and the methods you used to establish a data governance program at your prior company?
- What are your thoughts on how data governance should be put into practice within a company?
- How would you describe your technical proficiency with SQL and Python?
