I got referred by a friend of a coworker. There was an initial phone call, and then a coordinator sent me links to pick times for interviews. In total there were 5 steps, including calls at the start and end. But only 3 actual interviews. First, I did a timed Code Signal challenge at home. Then, I did an online code-pairing exercise. The last step was an all-day interview with 5 back-to-back one-hour sessions, all done remotely. The all-day interview had 3 coding sessions, 1 for architecture/system design, and 1 for leadership/culture fit. The coding sessions were like real pairing sessions, where I had to talk through my thoughts and take feedback. One session ran out of time, but it still felt good. Everyone was nice and positive about Postmates' future.

The process started with a take-home project, followed by a recruiter chat, and then an interview with the hiring manager. After that, there was an onsite interview lasting 3-4 hours with 5 interviewers, and the recruiter did a final wrap-up. Overall, the interview process was good and smooth. However, I didn't hear back after the onsite, even after reaching out to the recruiter. It took almost 5 weeks to finally get the results, which was a bad experience due to the long wait and lack of communication. Apart from that delay, the interviews themselves were fine.

I applied through LinkedIn and got an email to do a take-home assignment. After that, they scheduled a phone screen. The take-home took a couple of hours and had interesting questions, not boring coding ones. I was initially interviewing for a role in NY, and went to the office there, but the timing didn't work out. They offered to consider me for Nashville and SF, and flew me out to SF for an onsite interview. Everyone there was really nice, down-to-earth, and passionate. Michael C., the recruiter, was great to work with and kept me informed the whole time.

This was the most casual interview I've ever had, they told me not to dress up and the team leads were also dressed very casual, which made for a comfortable setting. The interview consisted of typical behavioral questions and a question about my fit for the company. They asked if I knew the Postmates story and shared it with me. The interview concluded with a brief overview of the training process, expectations for the role, and a note about the company's dynamic nature. I was told I'd hear back within 24-48 hours. A recruiter contacted me after 48 hours and scheduled a call for the next day to discuss details like start date and shift preference.
