I found the job on LinkedIn and got a message the same day to set up a phone screen. The screen itself was not great. I get being busy with recruiting, but this person didn't really try to get to know me or see if I'd fit the team. They asked about five questions in ten minutes, covering my background, availability, pay, ATS, and sourcing. I asked about Postmates' D&I efforts because of some concerning reviews online. Their response was, 'Well, our CEO is Indian, so obviously we care about culture.' My take is that Postmates isn't serious about D&I, or at least the hiring team isn't aware of any initiatives because they couldn't answer my questions about creating an inclusive workplace, which is a big deal for me.

30 min phone interview with HR, 3 hour onsite, offer. 1. Interview with the lead recruiter 2. Interview with another tech recruiter 3. Interview with a Sr. Engineer 4. Wrap up with HR. Everything was well planned and coordinated. The people were friendly and open to answering all of my questions. Everything ran on schedule despite the busy vibe. Everyone was genuinely interested in hiring for this role with a sense of urgency. They wanted to get the right mutual fit and provided a wealth of information that was helpful in making a final decision. I liked the energy, busy but still having fun despite the work to be done.

This wasn't a terrible interview experience overall, but it was plagued by delays. First, the recruiter canceled our initial phone screen just 10 minutes before it was scheduled. Then, when we finally had the rescheduled call, the recruiter was 15 minutes late. After the onsite interview, I was expecting to hear back by the end of that week, which didn't happen. The following week, the recruiter said they'd let me know by the end of that second week, but I never got a response. While it's fine to reject candidates, after so much back and forth and an onsite, it's standard practice to at least send a generic rejection email rather than ghosting. Another issue was meeting with 4-5 different people, and each one asked the exact same questions. This felt like a waste of everyone's time, and by the end of the three hours, I was exhausted from repeating myself.
