I applied online, and the process seemed straightforward, though it was a bit unusual to be asked for salary expectations upfront on the application instead of during an interview. I was contacted for an interview within a few days. We scheduled our first interview about 12 days out because my initial interviewer was on vacation, and my application got overlooked. Even before the scheduled interview day, the interviewer mixed up the dates, and I had to point out her error. On the day of our first interview, she mentioned she wasn't feeling well and suggested we just chat via Skype IM. I agreed, and after some messaging, she called me, and we completed the interview. She didn't seem sick, and later mentioned she might have eaten something that disagreed with her. The first interview didn't go well and left a negative impression, so I was surprised to get an invitation for a second interview. The second interview was much better, allowing me to explore the company's expectations in more detail. The third interview was a brief, about 8-minute phone call, which felt a bit strange. A few days after the final interview, I received an email stating they intended to send an offer letter but wanted to confirm a start date first, which again felt like an unusual business practice. I replied with my desired start date, about a month and a half away, and expressed my anticipation for the offer. They responded, wanting me to start in two weeks but offering to extend it to three weeks as a courtesy. As soon as I agreed to a date, they said I'd receive the offer. Unwilling to commit without seeing the offer, I replied that they could include the start date with the offer letter. Six days later, I received a call from the manager inquiring about my salary requirements, which confused me since I had already provided this information online. After I stated my desired salary, he informed me the position was fixed at $40,000 annually, significantly less than my current salary, and was non-negotiable. I reiterated my online submission, and he apologized, saying no one should have discussed it earlier.

I was asked to interview and pass along my resume. Then I had a Skype interview with two people. A week later, I did an in-person interview. A few days after that, I had a phone interview with the CEO. A few days after this, I got a personal call offering me the job. I said I was interested and got a job offer email.

Applied in August 2015 for a Community Manager role in Columbus, Ohio. Received a quick response and was scheduled for a Skype interview with the Regional Operations Manager. The interview was delayed by almost 30 minutes due to an issue at HQ. The manager did not turn on her video, but could see me. I was asked to briefly review my resume, with minimal feedback given. The manager then put me on hold and later explained she had urgent issues to attend to and asked to reschedule. I agreed, and the call ended after about ten minutes. I followed up via text and email, stating that rescheduling was fine. However, I never heard back from her. Given the quick scheduling based on my resume and then the abrupt end to the process, I suspect my age (over 50) may have been a factor, as Postmates seems to be a company that targets a younger demographic. While I have 20 years of experience, I would have expected a more complete initial interview and a clear rejection if I wasn't a fit. This was the most frustrating interview experience in six months of job searching.
