It started with a recruiter phone screening, which was pretty basic, just to see if I'd be a good fit. Then I had an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a second interview with someone at the same level as the hiring manager. They were all behavioral and pretty laid back. I heard back about a week and a half after the second interview.

Behavioral Technical Coding

It was a 3 round process with 2 behaviorals, it was thorough yet efficient, and they had good communication and free-flowing conversations. Technicals focused on explaining my resume background and key experiences. Behaviorals depended on the role and included a brief overview of tools, programming languages, and projects I have worked on, as well as challenges, career pivots, and more informal short answer questions.

Behavioral

The interview process involved an initial recruiter call discussing salary and relocation, followed by a 45-minute video call with both the recruiter and hiring manager a week later. This second call focused primarily on competency-based questions. The recruiter was friendly and direct, and I was informed a few days after the call that I would not be moving forward, along with the specific reasons why.

Presentation Behavioral

The recruiter mentioned an app review, so I spent days preparing a presentation with suggested app improvements. On interview day, I was surprised by a portfolio review. Fortunately, I had a memorized presentation ready, but it was still disorienting to prepare for one thing and be asked for another. The interviewers weren't very understanding and seemed a bit cold, but after my portfolio review, they still asked to see my app review presentation. They requested a copy of my app review afterward. Looking back, I shouldn't have agreed to provide unpaid work, thinking it would help me get the job, but it backfired. They took my work without even thanking me for my time. I received a rejection email two weeks later, which left a bad impression.
