The interview for this sales role was pretty standard. They asked mostly common questions about how I'd deal with different things on the sales floor, or how to handle customer questions and problems. It was a lot of 'what if' questions, not much deep stuff about the job itself. Pretty much a typical retail interview process, organized and professional, but nothing really stood out. The people interviewing me were nice, and it was just what you'd expect for this kind of job.

The recruiter call was great, informative and friendly. An interview was scheduled, which was described as informal, focusing on my background and the role. However, the actual interview with the hiring manager was intense and lacked introductions. It immediately jumped into competency questions without asking about me. This wasn't the interview I prepared for, and it didn't align with the culture I'm looking for, making me feel unprepared and uncomfortable. This approach isn't ideal for helping candidates perform their best. Consequently, I decided to withdraw from the process, as I wouldn't want to join a company with this interview culture. As a hiring manager for 20 years, I'd prioritize introductions and getting to know the candidate, as we hire individuals, not just for a role. The experience was disappointing and something I'd prefer not to repeat. I informed the recruiter, who apologized and confirmed it wasn't the interview she had set up.

I applied to a few marketing jobs at Pandora over the past year. The process usually starts with a recruiter call, then you're sent an online test that assesses personality, memory, and data literacy. After that, there's a meeting with the hiring manager. If you get past that, you'll be given a case study. In one instance, I had to do a live case study over Zoom, where after about 1.5 hours of discussion, I was shown a slide in the last 5 minutes and asked to come up with something on the spot. That didn't go well; I felt blindsided and stressed, leading to rambling and a poor performance. In another application process, I received the case study beforehand and then had the opportunity to present it in person at the office, which was a much better experience.

I had a really positive experience during my interview with Pandora. The interviewer, H., was incredibly kind and made me feel genuinely at ease from the very beginning. She had this warm and friendly attitude that made the conversation flow naturally. Every time I mentioned something positive or meaningful about my experience, she would smile and highlight it with a sense of complicity, which made me feel even more comfortable and confident. It truly felt like an open and sincere exchange rather than a formal interview.
