The process was a straightforward, open two-way conversation. I was given a task beforehand that was relevant to the job and reasonable in time. They explained the role requirements clearly, and I got to ask my own questions at the end. The interviewers were friendly and warm.

I did a written test in December 2023. Got told in November 2024 that I was selected for an oral interview. Apparently, there were issues with funding and stuff, hence the long wait. In December 2024, they told me I got the job. I filled out forms for references and the offer. After that, I heard nothing. I reached out to the hiring manager a month later but still no feedback. My referees were never contacted and I got ghosted. I expected to be told if the position was cancelled or if someone else got it, but never got any updates.

I got an email inviting me for a short phone interview. The call was pretty straightforward and lasted about 10-15 minutes. The store manager asked me why I wanted to work for a charity and whether I was familiar with their mission. I told them about my previous customer service experience and why I thought working in a charity store would be meaningful. They also asked about my availability and if I was comfortable working weekends or evenings.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • How would you handle a situation where a customer is unhappy with an item they purchased from the store, especially considering we are a charity organization with limited resources for returns or exchanges?

Behavioral

It was an interesting process initially, where they asked about my experience and seniority. However, as the conversation progressed, it became apparent that my salary expectations and age were diminishing their interest. Subsequently, the communication devolved into insincere promises and vague assurances via emails and phone calls. It's a disappointing approach from such an organization, which unfortunately reflects their operational methods.
