I applied on the company website and overall I liked the interview process. It was really clear and I got all the info I needed to prep for every step. Unlike many companies that just send an email rejection with no feedback, I got a call from the recruiter who explained what the team liked and disliked about my profile. The feedback was helpful, and even though I'm bummed about the decision, I thought it was fair. The whole thing started with a recruiter call to chat about the job, my background, what I'm looking for, and how the interviews would go. Then there was a 1-hour technical interview with two Onfido employees, covering probability, stats, ML, and deep learning textbook stuff. If that went well, the next part was a panel interview with 5 people from Onfido, with each round lasting an hour and an hour break in between. The first two rounds involved solving a LeetCode-style coding problem each. The third round was about applied deep learning where I had to present a deep learning paper I chose and a past project, followed by practical questions on training and using deep learning. The fourth round was on ML and DL fundamentals, answering textbook questions on ML, DL, and math using a whiteboard. The final round focused on deploying and monitoring ML and DL systems in production and collaborating with ML engineers and MLOps. I did the entire process remotely.

I applied through the website and heard back from the talent team in under 24 hours to set up a call. Usually, these things feel super automated, and you're lucky to get a real person or understand the interview needs before the first meeting. That wasn't the case here! I was really impressed by how quickly they got in touch and how they prioritized human interaction over generic emails. The first Zoom meeting was straightforward; it was honest and focused on seeing if both sides were a good cultural and background fit. It felt like Onfido genuinely valued diverse experiences and backgrounds. In the end, I didn't get the job because it was actually a bit too junior for my experience. But, Lori Stegall, my contact in the talent team, was fantastic. She gave me clear and helpful feedback super fast, instead of leaving me guessing or ghosting me. This happened within 24 hours, even though the hiring manager was out of town. I kind of expected not to get it and was prepared for feedback since that first chat highlighted the mismatch between the role and my expertise. I'm not upset about it. The whole process showed me they're efficient, people-focused, and still a place I'd want to work for if a better fit came up. I can't comment on what it's like to actually work there, but I left feeling it's still a company I'd recommend and would like to be a part of.

I went through 4 interviews: first with the recruiting manager, then a 45min discussion with a TPM, followed by a 45min technical discussion with the head of TPM and an Engineering Manager. Finally, I had a 45 min meeting with the VP of Engineering and another TPM. The whole process spanned over 6 weeks. Although I received positive feedback and was told an offer was forthcoming, after a 3-week wait and a follow-up, I learned the position was put on hold for the next year. It seems like a lack of organization, though I don't blame the recruiter; more transparency would have been helpful.

I applied online and then the recruiter reached out, she was very nice and quick to respond. There were 7 rounds in total. The hiring process wasn't the most organized. After the initial recruiter screen, I met with the SVP of the department, then one of their direct reports or a peer. I was then asked to develop a strategy for operations and present it in a 10-slide deck. After that was approved, I presented the deck to a panel that included my manager, my direct reports, and my peers. Following that, I had a culture interview with the CSM leader, who was very insightful. Then, I interviewed with the CCO, a very smart leader, and enjoyed our conversation. The final round was a culture interview with the People Business Partner. It was a long process but it let me meet more people and really get a feel for the company culture, which helped me decide if it was the right fit. I was able to negotiate salary using Glassdoor as a reference. Overall, the company has really interesting technology and smart, nice people, but there's a lot of work to be done and the focus seems to be shifting more towards the US.
