I was really excited about the chance to join Muck Rack's customer success team. Some interviewers were great and we had really good talks. But, one chat felt off and not really related to my experience, which was weird after the good talks before. The whole thing took a while, over five weeks and a bunch of chats (including a presentation), and then just ended with no word back. It felt unprofessional, especially since they focus on communication. Muck Rack has good people and could be great, but they could make the process better by having one main contact person, making the interviews flow better, and giving updates faster, especially because the pay is lower than the market for this kind of job.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Hey Muck Rack team, wanted to give some feedback on my interview process for the role. It took a long time, like 38 days starting Sep 28th, with a bunch of interviews and assignments I had to do, plus messing with my schedule. The last interview ended with them saying they'd hope to have me in a few weeks, but then after waiting two weeks, I got a standard rejection. It was pretty surprising and disappointing given how they phrased it and no follow-up. Also, through the whole thing, they didn't really ask about my technical background for the job, which made me question if they really checked my skills for it. This whole process, with the long timeline and unclear communication, was pretty stressful in this tough job market. I think being more upfront and having a smoother process would be better for Muck Rack and respect candidates' time more.

I had an initial pre-screen interview. The recruiter was nice, but it was a very standard pre-screen with robotic questions. I prefer to engage more to sell myself, and I knew after hanging up that this wouldn't get me through. My advice is to be direct with your answers. While the initial interview wasn't great or terrible, the only truly bad part was getting an automated rejection email after actually speaking with someone. I expected a personalized email.

The interview process was thorough, starting with an initial chat with talent management, followed by the hiring manager, the CRO, and the CEO. There was also a take-home task. Despite this, everything moved quickly, which was great. Each interviewer asked relevant questions and balanced casual conversation with job-related topics, making it enjoyable. While it was more thorough than I've experienced before, I found it impressive and a clear sign of how important finding the right people is to Muck Rack. You can be confident you're the right fit if you get the offer. The talent management team, Maggie and Odlenika, were super responsive and helpful with any questions, which really put me at ease during what can be a nervous process. They were great!
