Following that, they asked 'How would you approach using a tool you have no experience in?' and 'How would you split your work week?' Finally, they asked 'What are your strengths and weaknesses.'

Got referred by someone I know to a University Recruiter, who then chatted with me about the internship program and which teams had openings. I was interested in 2 teams, so I scheduled initial interviews with them. After those first interviews (which were a mix of resume and technical questions, but no live coding), I had a follow-up interview with each team (these had behavioral questions, more detailed technical questions, and some live coding). After that, the University Recruiter called me to talk about an offer for the NLP team. The whole thing took around 2 weeks from my first chat with the recruiter to the last recruiter call.

I had 3 interviews in total. First was a phone screening with the recruiter. Then, a technical interview with two leads from different teams. They each asked me a technical question and some detailed questions about my background. The third interview was on-site. It was 90 minutes total. I had to give a 20-minute technical presentation to a panel. After the presentation, they asked me a bunch of questions about it and then some behavioral questions. I think it went pretty well, and I didn't get any negative vibes. I asked for feedback after I was rejected, but didn't get any.

I interviewed for a Finance Internship. The first round was a video interview that felt very structured and professional. The interviewer did a great job of explaining how the finance team supports MITRE’s unique mission as a non-profit FFRDC, which is quite different from traditional corporate finance roles. The questions were a good mix of behavioral and situational. They seemed interested in my academic background, my proficiency with Excel/financial modeling, and my ability to work within a team. I particularly liked that they left plenty of time at the end for my questions, it felt like they genuinely cared about my professional growth and interest in the field. Overall, it was a very positive experience that made me even more excited about the possibility of joining the team.
