Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MITRE.
Intern
The interview process involved a single round, which was primarily focused on behavioral questions. There were also some technical questions, though they were not overly challenging. We discussed experiences from my resume and they asked follow-up questions based on my responses. Overall, it was a positive interview experience.
- What Python libraries have you used before?
- Can you tell me more about the experiences listed on your resume?
- Could you expand on your answer regarding [specific experience from resume]?
Intern
It was an average interview experience. I had a call directly with leadership. They asked me about my resume and experiences. They also asked me about my future goals. I didn't advance past the first round, which was a 30-minute behavioral interview.
- What draws you to this role?
Intern
MITRE likes to hire smart people and uses current employees to recruit from their past universities. This gives an edge to students at schools where MITRE employees also studied, as they understand the programs and what's needed. It's also better for grad students to have an inside person recommend them rather than just applying online. The process starts with a call from HR to see if your interests match a good area at MITRE. This part is pretty straightforward and the HR folks know their stuff technically, which helps find the right department. MITRE then flies you in for several one-on-one interviews with technical staff in the team you might join. After that, you'll meet with a section lead and then a division lead. One interview might happen during a meal, so be ready to chat and eat at the same time. These interviews will test your technical knowledge and are great for engineering-minded people because they play to your strengths.
