MITRE Financial Analyst Interview Questions
& Process

I interviewed with 3 directors. They each asked a different series of questions covering topics like MiTRE, financial statements, my past work, technical abilities, government contracting accounting rules, and leadership style.

I applied on MITRE's website and heard from the hiring manager about three weeks later for a quick, informal chat. The next day, HR called to set up an in-person interview with a panel, giving me a few date options. I got a confirmation later that evening, along with info about MITRE and directions. The in-person interview was planned for three hours. I got there ten minutes early, and the HR Recruiter was waiting. We chatted, went over basics, and she asked a couple of easy questions like what was most challenging about my job and my salary expectations. She seemed a bit concerned about my previous salary before retirement. Then I met the panel members in a friendly, collegial setting with lots of laughs. The department head walked me back to the lobby and we chatted for another five minutes before I left. The whole thing, including HR, took about an hour and a half. Two days later, they wanted to proceed with an offer, but needed a letter from my old employer's legal office confirming no conflict. I sent the letter that afternoon, and about a week later, the HR Recruiter called with a verbal offer, saying a written one would follow approval from their legal department. Five days after that, I got the written offer.

The interview process kicked off with a recruiter phone call, followed by a call with the hiring manager. The final stage was an in-person panel interview that also served as a practical test. This in-person part was pretty messy though. Reception/security didn't know I was coming, and the conference room wasn't ready, so I had to wait about 10 minutes for the interviewer to get me. The practical part of the interview was really unclear, just presented with random data and not much context.
