It was a smooth process overall: started with an HR chat, then an online technical test, and finally a technical interview. The main issue was the mismatch with the SDET role expectations. The online test had appropriate questions for an SDET and was easy. However, the technical round with the QA Architect and another dev/QA featured theoretical questions completely unrelated to QA, neither technical nor non-technical. I left the interview unsure of what just happened.

Behavioral

The interviewer seemed a bit cold and detached, leaving these really awkward silences that made it unclear if she was typing notes, thinking, or waiting for something. It was pretty uncomfortable, but it got way worse when she directly asked me where I was born and how old I am. Clearly, these questions aren't relevant to performing the job, which was the situation here. When your company already has a less-than-stellar reputation on Glassdoor, with some quite negative reviews, you really shouldn't be conducting interviews like this, or you'll just leave a terrible impression.

Behavioral Presentation

I initially reached out to the hiring manager on LinkedIn after applying, and that led to an initial interview. After that, I had a series of 6 interviews in one week with different people on the revenue team. I followed up about a decision and was told they'd know in 24-48 hours, but I never heard back before getting a candidate experience survey the next week. Even after asking if they'd chosen someone else, I haven't heard back, though a recruiter said they'd try to get me feedback.

Behavioral Technical

The recruiter was really direct and communicative. The whole process was pretty simple and transparent. It started with a phone call with the recruiter, and then I had back-to-back meetings with the Team Lead, Senior Manager, Director, and an outside colleague. Everyone was super friendly and explained the job responsibilities really clearly. They let me know the decision about 2-3 weeks after I started the process. They also needed 2 references and a thorough background check.
