Management was in contact for the first two interviews in 2024. The first interview was a virtual one with the assistant manager from Papillion, NE. She was nice but talked at me and asked minimal questions. The second interview was with the regional manager. He was difficult to read, and I struggled with one or two questions. It took a few weeks and follow-ups to get an answer, but I was the runner-up.

The interview process was great. First, there was a one-on-one with the HR team. Then, the second round involved 5 interviews at the company with people from different departments. I received excellent feedback from my interviewers, but then they ghosted me.

Got a call from their coordinator for the interview and was told to not bring a portfolio after asking if I needed to bring it. Went to the interview and the interviewers were nice, and asked to see my portfolio. I did have my laptop to show them my portfolio digitally and walked through it with them. It was a pretty short interview and they asked basic interview questions. There were some signs they were looking for a specific person to join them like any other company hiring. Other than that they were nice.

I applied online and heard back about three weeks later. I had a call with an internal recruiter, then a video interview with two managers, and finally, an in-person interview with two managers and one peer. They asked about my minimum salary expectations and then offered me $10K less than I stated from the start. I knew it wasn't a senior role, so I expected the salary to be a bit low, thinking I could move up within a couple of years. But when the offer came, the recruiter called to talk about my tattoos (hands and sleeves) and said they needed to be covered, even though they aren't offensive and the dress code only requires covering them if they are. I could have covered them and dealt with the business dress code, but not if they couldn't meet my minimum salary request, which turned out to be the top they paid for the position. They'd be getting all my experience for mid-level pay. Honestly, I'm not willing to spend 40+ hours in a gray, unlit office with a 'not working if not at your desk' culture, especially having to wear a pant suit daily. It's 2024, not 1984.
