Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores.
Assistant Manager
It was a quick and efficient interview. I did a fast tour of the facilities. The manager was really hyping up the company and the job, which felt a bit much since I already had a good idea of what the job entailed from a friend who works there.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Assistant Manager
They're pretty open to hiring pretty much anyone for this role, so just show you're enthusiastic about it. They have a lot of management turnover because the working conditions aren't great, so they can't be too picky. You'll talk to the regional recruiter first, then the district manager, and finally the store manager.

Assistant Manager
I was contacted for an interview with GM and DM. I did not hear back for almost two weeks and already accepted another position. I was requested to take a drug test that day, the form was sent through email and was directed to a local collection facility. A background check including credit was conducted, they asked a few questions about credit issues that showed up. After drug test results were returned, an offer letter was sent followed by a training date.
- What motivates your interest in working at a truck stop?
