First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LivePerson.
Software Development Engineer
There were 4 interviews in total. First was an HR screening. Second was a general technical interview where they discussed my past work and I had a small HackerRank/LeetCode style live coding question. The interviewer for this one was from a different team than the one I applied for. Third was another technical interview with the team itself, which included a slightly harder live coding question. Fourth was an interview with the department lead.
- What is your understanding of our company?
Client Executive
I went through a long, 6-week interview process. There were 4 initial interviews that seemed to go well, then I had to do a panel presentation for a made-up Bank Case. The case study itself wasn't great, too simple for a senior role and lacked detail, so I had to put in a lot of extra work to make it presentable. I ended up working on it during half of my 3-day vacation. After the presentation, I was told I did a good job. All my interviews had positive feedback, and it felt like they wanted me. Then, ten days passed with no word on next steps after the presentation, even after I followed up with HR. Finally, I heard they chose another candidate. It took them ten days to tell me this! They also said the original job title was 'too lofty' for the role, even though I have 20 years of enterprise experience.
- Are there any circumstances that would prevent you from accepting an offer with us?
Finance Professional
The interview process had a rough beginning and end. The first interaction with HR/recruiter got cancelled last minute, and I had to follow up to get anything moving. After that, I had four more interviews scheduled with the hiring manager, VP, and other team members. These interviews covered typical questions related to the finance position and workplace interactions. There was also a follow-up call, making it a total of five individuals I spoke with. Everything seemed positive, and I was given an expected decision date. However, after that date passed without any communication, I followed up again and never heard back. This lack of communication raised too many red flags for me, suggesting potential underlying issues with the company. It was quite disappointing given the time I invested in preparing and interviewing, although most of the people I spoke with gave off good vibes.
- Can you tell me about the retention rate at your last company and the method used to calculate it?
Revenue Operations Manager
The recruiter was super responsive this time, unlike my previous interview experience with them where they were pretty bad. I had interviewed in person for two roles before, and the recruiter just emailed me every other week for two months. The jobs got pushed to the next fiscal year. This time, I applied for a more senior role. I got an email from the recruiter, and then I met with the hiring manager less than a week later. The hiring manager was a little off-putting, but asked some good questions. The interview ended 10 minutes early, which has never happened before. He only let me ask about two questions, which was annoying because he got to talk a lot, but he didn't respect my time. I knew right then I wasn't going to get the job. It's probably for the best since they seem to be underpaying anyway. They use Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Salesforce, and some other tools. It seems like too many tools, which will probably make things inefficient, especially for an AI company that only recently started using data for decisions. I wouldn't bother with this company, it seems pretty unstructured.
- Can you discuss your familiarity with their tech stack and data visualization tools?
- Can you elaborate on your experience with business development concepts?
- How would you approach managing someone who is resistant to workplace changes?
